Ann E. Tenbrunsel was appointed senior assistant provost for internationalization in September 2013. She is the David E. Gallo Professor of Business Ethics in the Mendoza College of Business.

Tenbrunsel’s current research interests focus on the psychology of ethical decision making, examining why employees, leaders, and students behave unethically, despite their best intentions to behave to the contrary. She is the author, co-author, or co-editor of six books on this topic — including Blind Spots (with Max Bazerman), Behavioral Ethics: Shaping an Emerging Field (with David De Cremer), Codes of Conduct: Behavioral Research into Business Ethics (with David Messick) — and more than 50 research articles and chapters. Her research has been featured in interviews airing on MSNBC and National Public Radio, and adaptations, excerpts and references to her work have appeared in a variety of publications, including The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, The Associated Press, NBC, ABC, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, The Guardian, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Huffington Post, The Washington Post and others, as well as in blogs for Psychology Today and Freakonomics.

Tenbrunsel teaches at the executive, MBA, and undergraduate levels. Prior to entering academics, she worked in engineering and sales support for S.C. Johnson & Son and as a sales and marketing consultant for ZS Associates. Tenbrunsel earned her B.S.I.O.E from the University of Michigan, and an MBA and Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She joined Notre Dame’s faculty in 1995.

As senior assistant provost for internationalization, Tenbrunsel advises the vice president and associate provost on matters of international academic research and serves as a liaison between the Mendoza College of Business and Notre Dame International, promoting the growth of international efforts in both undergraduate and graduate programs.
