Associate Vice President for Internationalization
Tom Guinan was appointed associate vice president for internationalization in April 2013, after serving for 11 years as Notre Dame’s associate controller. He started working at Notre Dame in 2002, after nine years at Ernst & Young in New York City.
In his current role, Guinan oversees NDI’s domestic and international operations associated with facilities, finances, human resources, information technology and risk management and safety. His team also coordinates interactions between NDI and key campus partners such as Student Affairs, General Counsel, Controller’s Office, Human Resources, Campus Safety, and many others.
Active in the local community, Guinan serves on the school board of Marian High School and the finance council at St. Anthony de Padua Parish. He and his wife, Shannon (ND ’91) have three children, two of whom are current Notre Dame undergraduates. Guinan is often seen performing as drummer on and off campus with the Oblates of Blues, a faculty/staff blues band he has been with since 2003.
Guinan is a Notre Dame alum with undergraduate degrees in accounting and theology and a master’s degree in theology. He also earned his MBA from Columbia University in 2001 and his CPA in 1996.
