Russia's Failed Democratic Revolution, 1917: A Centennial Reappraisal

Location: Rome Global Gateway

March 10-12, 2016

In recent years, historians have come to see the Russian Revolution as a deep process and as the laboratory for transformation of the social, political, economic, and cultural order within the borders of the Russian empire, with tremendous influence beyond Europe and Asia; indeed its impact was global. The conference will bring these new topics and visions together to provide a fresh overview of 1917 itself that will include the crucial earlier phases of the revolutionary process. Co-sponsored by Kellogg Institute for International Studies, Nanovic Institute, and the Notre Dame Department of History.
