Summer: Global Professional Experience Program
As director of global engagement programs, Hong Zhu oversees the office’s Global Engagement Programs that bring non-degree seeking international students to campus for short-term summer and semester programs. In addition, Hong Zhu also manages the Global Professional Experience Program that offers Notre Dame students opportunities to intern abroad that blend cultural immersion with experiential learning.
Hong Zhu’s professional interest has always been in international education. Prior to joining the Immigration Services Office at Notre Dame in 2005 as an International Student Advisor, Zhu was Director of The Language Company--South Bend English Institute for nine years. Since 2008, Zhu has worked at Notre Dame International as a study abroad program manager, overseeing a variety of programs in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, France, United Kingdom, and Greece.
Zhu holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech, an M.A. in English from Virginia Tech, and a B.A. in English from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
