Maggie Remstad Hook

Maggie’s passion for international education began with her experience teaching English at Saint George’s College in Santiago, Chile through Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education. She has since coordinated international programs for students of diverse ages and backgrounds, including leading an exchange program to Mexico with 5th grade students, overseeing the enrollment and support of Chinese high school students in a Michigan school district, and preparing student teachers at Indiana University for overseas cultural immersion experiences. Prior to joining the Study Abroad team at NDI, Maggie coordinated faculty-led educational travel programs for alumni and adult learners at Cornell University.

Maggie earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies with a concentration in comparative international education from Indiana University. Her dissertation explored the implementation of human rights education programs in the Andean highlands of Peru. She has an M.Ed. in Elementary Education and a B.A. in Anthropology from Notre Dame. She is proficient in Spanish and has completed an intensive course of beginner level Quechua in Cusco, Peru.
