Matthew Goldammer joined Notre Dame in the fall of 2018 and is currently serving as Assistant Rector at the Villa. He works to encourage an environment for the students studying abroad in Rome that is the most viable for their physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. He does this by being present to the students at the Villa, completing administrative tasks so that the students' experience is as smooth as possible, and organizes events for the students' educational and spiritual enrichment.
Matthew earned his BA from the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, MN in 2016, having pursued and completed majors in Philosophy, Catholic Studies, and Classical Languages. He then went to the Pontifical Gregorian University to pursue a master's degree in theology, which he is looking to complete in June of 2019. During these years he was also in seminary formation at Saint John Vianney College Seminary and the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He has now felt called in a different direction and is thus applying to law schools for the fall of 2019. He enjoys soccer and golf, studying languages, and also plays the piano and appreciates classical music and jazz.
