Experimental Song Seminar

Location: Fischer Hall, London

This experimental song seminar is part of an on-going collaboration between the University of Notre Dame and “Music in London 1800-1851” project based at King’s College London, directed by Roger Parker.  The seminar will bring together experts on ninteenth-century popular British song from a range of disciplines — history, music, literature, politics and theatre — in order to collaborate on developing new approaches to the nineteenth-century popular song tradition.  What kind of object is a popular song? What does it reveal and obscure? What might be the best tools for analyzing it?
