Book Launch: "Roman Sources for the History of American Catholicism, 1763–1939"

Location: Rome Global Gateway

May 24, 2018

This event will celebrate the publication project of Cushwa's inaugural Rome fellow, Matteo Binasco: "Roman Sources for the History of American Catholicism, 1763–1939," (UND Press, spring 2018; edited by Kathleen Sprows Cummings). Binasco wrote this guide to over 50 Roman archives during his three years as a Cushwa Center postdoctoral fellow based at the Rome Global Gateway (2014–2017). The volume profiles research repositories throughout the city of Rome to assist researchers in seeking archival sources relevant to the history of American Catholicism. Invitees will include Cushwa's newly-constituted Rome Advisory Committee, chaired by Luca Codignola. Codignola and Matteo Sanfilippo authored the volume's introduction, which reviews the intricate web of relations linking the Holy See and the American Catholic Church since the Treaty of Paris of 1763.
