Dates of Workshop
May 20-21, 2019
In collaboration with ICMC and the Vatican Dicastery, Caritas, and other religious leaders and organizations Ilaria Schnyder von Wartensee, Kellogg Institute for International Studies and Clemens Sedmak, Keough School of Global Affairs will organize a workshop on welcoming refugees through faith-based and community-based sponsorship (experiences from Italy, UK, France, Austria, Germany, Ireland and Canada). They will present the preliminary results on the humanitarian corridor project and dialogue with other actors in best practices and challenges, informing also policy leaders and researchers.
In October 12-14, 2017 the Notre Dame Rome Global Gateway hosted the Workshop "Religion, Church, and the Integration of Migrants" which has brought together successfully both academics, representatives of the Church and practitioners from around the world to explore different responses to migration in the light of human dignity and the catholic social thought. Ilaria and Clemens propose that the Rome Global Gateway continues this tradition to be a center an ideal base of operations for Notre Dame migration projects focusing in particular on best practices of based communities.
