Established in January 2016, the Mumbai Global Center is part of the University of Notre Dame’s Asia initiatives. The Center is building the University’s visibility and engagement with India’s top educational institutions, and works with different campus units and organizations to implement activities and projects across India.
Key projects include:
- Strategic development and implementation of the recruitment system for NDI’s American Summer Programs in India
- Implementing faculty delegations for scholarly exchange at several of India's top educational institutions including The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (Mumbai), Indian Institute of Science and Education Research (Pune), St. Xavier's College (Mumbai), and St. Stephen's College (a constituent college of the University of Delhi).
- Coordinating the Student International Business Council’s annual business/culture study tour of India
- Providing logistical management for building a Master’s program at Balkh University (Afghanistan) through a USAID grant, led by the Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development and Mendoza College of Business’ Executive Education Read more
Dhiraj Mehra joined Notre Dame as the director for initiatives in India in January 2016. Previously, he was a serial entrepreneur in the garment industry in India. He works to strengthen the University’s existing partnerships in India and build new opportunities across the country. Mehra also works closely with different centers, institutes, and colleges across campus to increase engagement opportunities with India.
Mehra holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the Mendoza School of Business at Notre Dame, with a minor in computer applications. In addition to his business and commercial ventures, Mehra runs a family-owned charitable trust in his home city of Mumbai, India, that helps promote and provide basic education and quality healthcare for the underprivileged. He is a devoted family man and loves spending time with his wife Superna and their son.
