Learn about achievements and adventures of Greater China Scholars Qingling Wang’16 and Jenny Ng’17.

Notre Dame has established a productive relationship with the Ministry of Education of China and the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Vice Minister of Education Hao Ping and CSC Secretary General Liu Jinghui visited the Notre Dame campus in 2013 and signed an agreement to provide ND-CSC joint scholarships to up to 20 Chinese students each year to enroll in Notre Dame’s Ph.D. programs. As a result of the seventh U.S.-China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange, Notre Dame organized a 4-week training program for athletic directors and head coaches from China in cooperation with the Federation of University Sports China (FUSC).

With the goals of developing long-term academic partnerships and increasing research and education collaborations in Asia, the Beijing Global Gateway organizes faculty and University leadership delegations from Notre Dame to Asia, and to organize delegations from the University’s partners in Asia to the Notre Dame campus.

Notre Dame’s Asia Leadership Forum, featuring the Honorable Ma Ying-jeou, former president of Taiwan, and Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former President of Indonesia in 2016 and 2015, provided an excellent platform for dialogues with leaders in Asia and discussions on important issues in the region.

In October 2015, the Notre Dame Global Forum: Asia, including the first-ever gathering of all the Notre Dame clubs of Asia, was held in Hong Kong. More than 30 officers representing over 20 clubs from Asia attended the Asia Club Leaders Meeting. The Forum’s luncheon focused on the topic of ethical leadership and attracted 200 attendees from Hong Kong and all over the world.
