Notre Dame International Essay Contest on Global Citizenship

   Global Forum Essay Contest


In conjunction with the Notre Dame Forum: Going Global, Notre Dame International is pleased to announce the first essay contest on global citizenship. We invite all Notre Dame students to write a brief essay addressing what it means to be a global citizen, what the challenges and rewards are, and how you have used or will use your Notre Dame education to become a global citizen.


This contest is open to all currently enrolled Notre Dame students.

Essay Guidelines

  • Length: 750 -- 1,000 words
  • Entries must be original, unpublished work written by the contestant. All quotations or uncommon facts should be appropriately cited.
  • Decisions of the judges are final.

Any and all submissions to this essay contest may be used at the discretion of Notre Dame for promotional purposes.

Submission Instructions

All entries must be submitted via online submissions manager here. You will be asked to provide your name, college, and the title of your essay. Essays can be uploaded in the form of Word document or PDF.

Submission Deadline: March 25, 2018 11:59 p.m., EST


4 Winners

Essays will be judged by a panel of ND faculty and administrators. 

Winners will be recognized during the April 12th Global Forum event featuring special guest Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, and invited to participate in the discussion panel. Winners will also be invited to the VIP dinner with Dr. Yunus and presented with one of his books.
