Eligibility/Qualifications:

  • Full time, undergraduate student (min. rising sophomore)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to empower others
  • Intercultural skills and sensitivity
  • Friendliness and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet all program time commitments (accountability)
  • Preferred: Study abroad experience or experience interacting with international students

Responsibilities:

  • Assist visiting, non-degree seeking, international students with social, cultural, and academic transition and adjustment
  • Help mentees connect with clubs, organizations, and other on campus resources
  • Meet with your mentee(s) at least twice a month
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with your mentees
  • Provide feedback as needed
  • Participation: at least 6-10 hours per month
  • Attend mandatory mentor retreat on April 27, 2019
  • Participate in program sponsored activities and events (min 2-3/semester) as well as three mentor dinners throughout the semester
