READJUSTING TO YOUR HOME CULTURE AFTER YOUR ADVENTURE ABROAD.

Returning home can be a joyful time, but adjusting back to your life in the U.S. can also be challenging and stressful. Resources are available both on and off campus for you to help process your experience and make your readjustment positive.

Feeling Sick

If you don’t feel well after international travel (or anytime), visit the University Health Center. Be sure to inform UHS where you have been in the last 12 months.

Let's Talk

Consider making an appointment with your past or current physician / therapist / counselor to discuss returning to your routine back in South Bend and readjusting to life on main campus.

Other resources include but are not limited to:
  • The University Care Consultant Team provides support to Notre Dame students experiencing stress or difficult situations. Make an appointment with a Care Consultant.
  • Let’s Talk is a brief (15 minute) consultation with a mental health provider and is available to all current students. It is completely free and confidential and you don’t need an appointment.
  • Unsure how well you are? Review the many self-assessments available by the University McDonald Center for student well-being.

The University Counseling Center offers a variety of crisis services, including walk-in crisis services during business hours, after-hours helpline and urgent crisis services via telephone after hours, sexual assault resources, Warm Line (a non-emergency consultation service), and other services.
