Student International Safety Summit: Session One

Students expecting to travel abroad over Winter Break 2017 or during the Spring 2018 semester, must attend one of two identical sessions. This is a peer-led orientation and fulfills NDI's Undergraduate International Travel Policy requirement for a health and safety orientation prior to Notre Dame-sponsored travel.

Rome Villa as Jewish School Under Fascism: A Testimony from Former Student "Giacometta" Limentani

Location: 500 Main Building

The Villa is the residential living-learning space for ND study abroad students in Rome and is located on the Celio hill. From 1938 to 1940 the Villa served as a Jewish school after students and professors were removed from Italian public schools as a consequence of 1938 Racial Laws.

Giacometta Limentani, writer and translator, was a 11 year old student at the time; she attended the school and survived the war. During the event she will be accompanied by friend Paola Fano Modigliani. Lia Toaff from the Jewish Museum of Rome will provide an historical introduction.

The event, conducted mostly in English, will take place at the Rome Global Gateway, and will be live streamed at Notre Dame in the Main Building. Co-sponsored by the Rome Global Gateway, Notre Dame International, Italian Studies at Notre Dame, and with the participation of the Museo Ebraico di Roma.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Information Session

Location: 105 Main Building

All F-1 students who plan to participate in Curricular Practical Training (CPT) are required to attend a CPT information session or view the CPT information video before International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) can process their applications. During the sessions, students will learn about CPT and the application process. To apply for employment authorization for Curricular Practical Training, students must attend an information session presented by International Student and Scholar Affairs within the current academic year.…
