Elaine Tan

Elaine Tan is a Senior Student Immigration Advisor, managing F and J student immigration advising. She has a Master's in TESOL and a Master's in Social Sciences (Psychology and Political Science). She comes to Notre Dame from Iowa State University and previously worked at Iowa Wesleyan University and Campbellsville University.

Elaine brings with her first hand experiences as an international student herself hailing from SouthEast Asia; she navigated through both an F-1 student & J-1 exchange visitor status while studying in the United States. Now being an advisor herself, she is able to empathize with the international student's journey and strives to provide a holistic approach to her advising. In her down time, besides traveling, you can spot her playing badminton, swimming laps in the pool or reading a John Grisham's book. She also loves to listen to her old collection of vinyl records, attend local performing arts theatre productions/plays and volunteer within the community.
