Dublin

Hannah Flanagan, a native of Haverhill, Massachusetts, completed her undergraduate education at Fairfield University in 2022 with a B.A. in History and minors in English, Philosophy, and Irish Studies. Possessing a lifelong affinity for Irish history and culture, Hannah moved to Dublin to pursue an M.Phil in Modern Irish History at Trinity College Dublin three months after graduating from Fairfield. Both her undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations examine the intellectual and cultural activity of Ireland’s first women’s nationalist organization, Inghinidhe na hÉireann (“Daughters of Ireland”). Her research interests include histories of gender, sex and sexuality, emotion, and thought.

Hannah joined Notre Dame Dublin in 2024 as the Programmes Coordinator. Under her remit are the Irish Internship Programme and short-term immersion programmes over fall, spring, and summer breaks. She also provides structure and support to undergraduate independent researchers and manages Special Collections at O’Connell House, including the Brian Friel Library, the Seamus Heaney Collection, and the Nanovic European Studies Library.

In her spare time, Hannah enjoys reading, trivia, baking, practicing yoga, crafting, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
