Kevin Barnes joined the London Global Gateway as Assistant Rector in October 2014. As Assistant Rector he helps to ensure that Conway Hall and its residents are secure and flourishing in his native city. He provides students with pastoral and educative support and also leads initiatives designed to nurture community and conviviality amongst them, as well as to challenge and enrich them individually in mind, body, and soul. His programming includes weekly soccer matches, service, and activities pertaining to religious life. He hosts the Lumber-House reading group, an arena of uninhibited discourse.
Previously, Barnes researched and wrote speeches for a human rights charity to present at the United Nations Human Rights Council, and he volunteered for the National Trust. His principal passions are philosophy and literature, which he employs in the Inside London sessions he curates. He holds an MLitt in history from the University of St Andrews and is a perpetual student of Things in General and ancient Greek in particular.
