Robert Duffin

Operations Manager

Dublin

Robert Duffin, born at the southern tip of Dublin’s border with Wicklow in Shankill, is a University College Dublin graduate with a B.A. in History and Archaeology and an M.Sc. in World Heritage Management and Conservation. Robert’s educational background is fitting considering the historical significance of Notre Dame Dublin’s center at O’Connell House, the former home of Daniel O’Connell.

His M.Sc. dissertation entitled “Georgian Dublin: Communities in a Postcolonial Context” looked at the relationship between the Irish population and their colonial-built heritage that endows the city with its unique character, revealing more about Georgian architecture, its history, historiography, and contemporary place as a part of the island’s cultural memory.

Robert is an essential member of the team at O’Connell House, leading the day-to-day functioning of the facilities, events, and other associated services. It is a top priority to create an environment that delivers unparalleled student and visitor experience, whether this entails exceptional hospitality or event and facility management.

As Operations Manager, Robert proactively works to maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of the students, visitors, faculty, and staff at O’Connell House. When he is not conducting a risk assessment, H&S training, or an emergency fire drill, he always welcomes visitors to tour the neoclassical house, whether you are interested in the history of architecture, Daniel O’Connell, or the 19th and 20th century once-derelict tenements.

When not working, Robert enjoys reading and running. He plays a variety of sports from kickboxing and jiu-jitsu to football. He also enjoys to fish, but he has yet to catch one.
