Notre Dame Global, in collaboration with Notre Dame Alumni of Kenya presents East Africa Conversations, a series of hour-long conversations with leaders at the University of Notre Dame during the spring semester 2021. Each program was moderated by Fr. Bob Dowd, C.S.C. and Jackline Oluoch-Aridi.

A Conversation with Michael E. Pippenger

Michael E. Pippenger was appointed vice president and associate provost for internationalization at Notre Dame in 2016. As a member of the President’s Leadership Council and an officer of the University, Pippenger leads Notre Dame Global, the centralized office for the university’s global strategy. With a team of 100 people around the world, he oversees international students, scholars, and study abroad, supports global faculty research, and runs Notre Dame’s Global Network. A member of the Provost’s Cabinet, Pippenger chairs the University Committee on Internationalization and serves on the board of the University of Notre Dame (USA) in England.

A Conversation with G. Marcus Cole

 Marcus Cole


G. Marcus Cole is the Joseph A. Matson Dean and Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School.

He is a leading scholar of the empirical law and economics of commerce and finance. He was a faculty member at Stanford Law School from 1997 until he came to Notre Dame in 2019. At Stanford, he held two endowed chairs and taught courses in the areas of bankruptcy, banking, contracts, and venture capital. In addition, he served for five years as associate dean for curriculum and academic affairs.
